Who we are
Day Off Atlas (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates dayoffatlas.com (the “Site”). This policy explains what information is collected when you visit the Site, how cookies and advertising technologies work, and how you can control them.

Information we collect
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and third-party partners may automatically receive technical data such as:
- Browser type and version, device type, and operating system
- Approximate location derived from IP address (which may be truncated or anonymised)
- Pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps
- Cookie identifiers and advertising identifiers, if you have consented to advertising cookies
Information you send us
We do not run account registration or contact forms. If you email [email protected], we receive whatever you include in that message (typically your email address and the content of your enquiry) and use it only to respond.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. The Site uses:
- Essential preference storage: we remember your cookie choice in local storage so we do not keep asking on every page load.
- Advertising cookies (only after consent in regions that require it): set by Google and its partners to show ads, measure them, and limit how often you see the same ad.
- No first-party analytics cookies: Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless (see below).
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies with the banner on first visit. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not stop the Site from working.
Google AdSense, DoubleClick cookies, and personalised ads
We use Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to:
- Serve ads on this Site
- Personalise ads based on your activity on this Site and other sites (interest-based advertising)
- Measure ad performance, frequency, and conversions
- Detect and prevent invalid traffic and fraud
Google may set cookies such as IDE, DSID, and other DoubleClick / Advertising
cookies in the .doubleclick.net domain, and additional cookies from AdSense on
google.com and partner domains. These cookies can store or read identifiers that allow
Google to recognise your browser across websites.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this Site or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
For details of how Google uses data from partner sites, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
How to opt out of personalised ads
You can opt out of personalised advertising — Google will then show non-personalised ads where ads are shown — using any of these tools:
- Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) — control ad personalisation for your Google account and this browser
- Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out (aboutads.info)
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (youronlinechoices.eu) — for users in the EU/EEA/UK
You can also reject non-essential cookies on this Site, which keeps Google Consent Mode in a denied state for ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalisation until you change that choice. Browser controls can block or delete cookies; blocking all cookies may affect some third-party features.
Google Consent Mode v2
The Site implements Google Consent Mode v2. Until you accept advertising/analytics cookies, consent signals default to denied for:
ad_storagead_user_dataad_personalizationanalytics_storage
If you accept, those signals are updated to granted. If you reject non-essential cookies, they remain denied. This is designed so Google tags behave according to your choice, including in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.
Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless)
We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, countries, browsers). Cloudflare documents this product as privacy-first and cookieless: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint individual users for cross-site tracking, and is not used to serve ads.

Legal bases and your rights (GDPR and POPIA)
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we process technical and advertising data on the basis of your consent (for non-essential cookies and personalised ads) and legitimate interests (operating a secure, functional static website). Where South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) applies, we process personal information as described here for the purpose of running the Site, measuring its use, showing advertising, and responding to email you send us.
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion or destruction of information
- Object to or restrict processing, including for direct marketing / personalised ads
- Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing
- Data portability, where GDPR provides that right
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for example an EU DPA, the UK ICO, or the Information Regulator of South Africa)
To exercise these rights, email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Request” and enough detail for us to identify the request. We do not sell personal information.
California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may request to know, delete, or correct personal information and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell personal information. You can opt out of personalised advertising using the links above and the cookie banner.
Children
The Site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information via email, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after an update means you should review the new policy.
